After 11´000 km we finally finished in Bamako!!! We were placed as number 34 (out of 110 teams) but we´re waiting for the final results. We have sold our car and are now waiting to go back home.

2009-01-30

Driving continues on the savanna. It´s dusty, bumpy and tight between trees and bushes. We keep on fighting and have a pretty good position. 110 teams started the competition and now we´re only 37 teams left. Tomorrow we will finish this rally in Bamako!

2009-01-29

We left the Sahara desert behind us and entered the black Africa. Without any notice we crossed the border (in the middle of the bush) to Mali.

2009-01-28

Today´s stage was cancelled since many teams are still stucked in the desert. We drove on asphalt roads down to Kiffa.

2009-01-27

At 7 am we were escorted by the military to the starting area of the special stage. This was the toughest stage of the whole rally. It was stony, sandy and a rough country! We got stucked for several times and finished after 21 hours. We we´re not the only team to get stucked, we helped many other teams on our way.

2009-01-26

This morning they informed us that we had to take another way due to safety reasons. We were supposed to drive close to rebel controlled areas. It was also high risk for sandstorms. The new stage was an easier drive but longer and took us via Nouakchott. We´re looking forward to a notorious former Dakar Rally-stage.

We crossed the border between Marocco and  Mauritania. It took us 7.5 hours... We drove to the camp and had a good night´s sleep.

2009-01-24

Today we have been driven 800 km, for the most part on asphalt roads but even on sanddunes. We met the journalist and adventurer Christer Gerlach who had an interview with us and another Swedish team. Maybe it will be published in the magazine "Teknikens värld". Tomorrow we will cross the border to Mauritania.

2009-01-23

Today it was an easy stage. We entered the West Sahara. Tomorrow we will drive 800 km down to the Tropic of Cancer.

2009-01-22

Finished the first desertstage at 3 am and started a new one at 8.30 am. Today it was an easier drive and we even got time to cook ravioli in the desert! Now we are heading for the West Sahara.

2009-01-21

After a cold night we went out on the first desertstage. It was 410 km long and the desert consisted of both sand and stones. The time is now 11.10 pm and we still haven´t finished todays race.

2009-01-20

At 7 am we arrived to a rainy Marocco. We crossed the border without any complications and drove southwards. The drive included a snowstorm in the Atlas mountains and a few navigation spots before we reached the gate of Sahara, Erg Chebbi.

2009-01-19

Started at 7.30 am on the very long drive through Spain. We arrived to Almeria on the evening and took the ferry at 11.00 pm to Marocco and crossed the Mediterranean Sea.

2009-01-18

We had an early briefing before the marathon stage. We looked for navigation spots on the Italian countryside and got problems with closed alproads on our way to France. Then we passed Monaco and looked for another navigation spot on a mountain. It was pretty dark so we had to use a flashlight. Drove on and met another team which was in big trouble. They were stacked in a hole halfway down in a watercourse. Of course we stopped by and pulled up the heavy vehicle (3500 kg), our car is fantastic!! After many long hours we finally reached Spain and fell asleep at 4.30 am on a parking along the road!

2009-01-17

The race started at 9.15 am! The first stage was 850 km based on 15 navigation spots. It took us through Hungerian and Slovenian forests. We finished our first day after 18 hours in Italy. Now it is time to get three hours sleep before the very long run tomorrow between Italy and Marocco. It will last for 3 days.

2009-01-16

Today we passed the vehicle test in the starting area. After that we did some sightseeing in Budapest. Now it´s time to take a good rest before the start tomorrow.

2009-01-15
